This stress is good…right?
As the hours for the big trip are winding down, my excitement and stress levels are inversely proportionate! After a busy few days of University tests and last-minute plan shuffles for next week, I’m quite ready to let this adventure unravel. However, reality has not yet sunk in that this little idea I had eight months ago will be tangible in a few days. It’s incredibly overwhelming to think about all of the people who have supported Project: Katrina Hope along the way, and I cannot adequately express my gratitude in words.
I was out to dinner with two friends last night, and one of them asked how I was so nonchalant about all that we were doing with the documentary and volunteer groups. Friends and colleagues have mentioned possible national exposure, television shows, and celebrity support stemming from the documentary, but I can’t even comprehend any of that. All I truly want is for people to become aware of the incredible men and women who give up their time (in this case, college spring break) to rebuild areas destroyed by Hurricane Katrina more than two and a half years ago.
For a bit of fun, here’s the route to New Orleans! Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana–14 hours of excitement (well, anticipation, at least).
