Day 1–Mother Nature v. Project: Katrina Hope
After nine hours and several different weather phenomena, I’m safely set for the night in Mississippi. The morning began with snow in Kansas and part of Missouri, then rain through the rest of Missouri, followed by 150 miles of beautiful sunshine in Arkansas, and finally strong winds and overcast skies through the rest of Arkansas and into Tennessee and Mississippi. The drive, though, was pretty enjoyable, and I got to see some cool scenery and interesting sites (a lot of antique stores, cows, and auction sites).
I’m beginning to comprehend what’s ahead for the week, and I’m hoping Shannon and I can soak it all in. Those moments of just sitting back and taking the environment will be key for us the next eight days.

I’m sure the sunshine in Arkansas was a welcome relief after what you had driven through thus far.
Looks like you were “drive by shooting” that photo as you crossed the Mighty Mississippi! Don’t let the highway patrol se this photo.
I can’t tell you how proud I am of you regarding this endeavor. Best of luck this week. Five years ago tomorrow we were boarding a cruise ship. Now you are setting sail on the adventure of your dreams. May all your work be pure, and your fun…good, clean fun. May you touch lives in a profound way, and may they touch yours as well.
My continued prayers are with you this week in the Bid Easy. I love you.
