How To Help
Project: Katrina Hope is funded by donors who graciously volunteer their resources. The immediate goal is $2,500. Initial fundraising proceeds help lower costs associated with transportation and production of the documentary. By August 2008, every penny of every donation will be directed to worthy volunteer groups working to raise funds for trips to rebuild New Orleans. No donation is too small to assist the organization.
Your financial assistance will be noted in the credits of the Project: Katrina Hope documentary, unless you wish to remain anonymous.
You can now securely donate online via PayPal.
Snail-mail donations can be sent to:
- Project: Katrina Hope
- 3934 St. Ives Rd. #1121
- Myrtle Beach, SC 29588
Please make checks payable to Project Katrina Hope.
If you have any questions about donating to the organization, please refer them to donate@projectkatrinahope.com
Non-financial assistance
Aside from monetary donations, many volunteer groups across the country are looking for able people to donate their time to rebuild New Orleans and other Katrina-affected areas. Here are some resources to find a group in your area:
- Habitat for Humanity provides opportunities for both individuals and groups to rebuild homes throughout the year.
- ACORN, or the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, recruits volunteers to clean and rebuild New Orleans. Homeowners working with ACORN supply the tools and paint for their homes, while volunteers team up to provide the labor.
- The St. Bernard Project is a nonprofit organization that rebuilds homes in St. Bernard Parish, a working class/middle class community adjacent to New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward. 100% of businesses and homes in St. Bernard Parish were deemed uninhabitable by the post-Katrina flooding. The mission of the St. Bernard Project is to assist families who wish to return to St. Bernard Parish. The St. Bernard Project uses volunteer labor and donations for building supplies to rebuild, which includes such tasks as exterior and roofing work, framing repair, rough and finish electric, plumbing, insulation and drywall, interior painting, and flooring and cabinets.
- Another one of these resources is Operation Noah Rebuild, which provides rebuilding opportunities through the North American Mission Board.
